Peace on Earth

I attended a coaching conference earlier this month and had a very interesting experience that has culminated into this inspiring insight.

 

The morning of the first day of the conference I went to the hotel restaurant to have some breakfast. As I entered the restaurant a man was standing there and I could tell by his badge that he was attending the same coaching conference. Now I was thinking about having breakfast by myself but was not closed to the idea of dining with someone. The man then asked if I was interested in dining with him. I said yes. We were seated, ordered and got to talking. It turns out that, Jim, is an accountant from the west coast and I am an accountant from the east coast. Coincidence? Hmmmm, two accountants meeting for breakfast at a coaching conference – more like a Godincidence. We discovered we also shared a wonderful spiritual journey with God. What a way to start the conference!

 

Jim sent me a book that I received today called The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection. I began reading it right away and could relate to Brother Lawrence’s method of connecting with God since it is what I practice each day.

 

Later in the day I attended a party where we spoke about the war in the Middle East. It seems so hopeless.

 

So, I went to bed with these two thoughts on my mind. Deepening my relationship with God to the point where He is present in my every thought and how can we possibly stop all the senseless killing.

 

Here is what came out of the whirling of thoughts and tossing and turning of my restless sleep:

 

The killing in the world is the outward expression of the anger, hatred, violence, fear… of each individual person on earth. There are 6 billion people in the world today and each of them contributes to the killing through their negative thoughts and feelings towards others.

 

Peace is accomplished when each person works on healing their negative thoughts and feelings toward themselves and others.

 

When all 6 billion of us do this, there will be peace!

 

There is peace on earth because it began with me

There is peace on earth the peace that is meant to be

With God as our Father, family all are we

We walk with our family in perfect harmony

There is peace on earth this is the moment now

There is peace on earth this is our solemn vow

We take each moment and live each moment in perfect harmony

There is peace on earth because it began with me

 

God works in amazing ways. A coincidental encounter of two accountants led to an inspiring book that was mixed with thoughts about hopeless war to generate wonderful thoughts of the possibility of peace.

 

Let’s give this world back to God by loving God with all our heart, loving ourselves and our neighbors with honor and dignity – Peace begins with YOU!!!

 

Pass it on – we have 6 billion people to reach!
